Types of Au Pairs

Primarly live in au pairs, occupy 4 categories:
tier 1, tier 2, tier 3 AND tier 4 (mother’s help)

Live In

  • Tier 1

  • Au pair will be very young, will have little or no experience, typically weak English and probably still in their native country waiting for a host family.
  • Tier 2 & 3

  • Au pairs will typically be 21-28, have 6 months – 2 years experience in looking after children, good levels of English and UK references.
  • TIER 4:
    (Mother’s help)

  • Mother’s help will usually be 23-40, have a range of different child care experience
    (including baby experience), good English and UK references. They are like nannies without the qualification.

Live Out

Live out au pairs can be categorised as either Tier 3 or Tier 4 (Mother’s Help). Candidates can be either sole charge or as an extra pair of hands, according to your preferences.

  • Part time

  • Au pairs will be typically looking for either morning or afternoon work. These au pairs will either have other child-care job(s) or be studying.
  • Full time

  • For parents that need experienced help. Au Pairs have a wide range of experiences and abilities. We put together a list of your requirements ….then find the right person to match your needs.
